Approximate list prices for every paid or freemium service in the glossary, in each vendor's own currency. Prices change often, so every line links to the vendor's own pricing page, which is the one to trust before you commit. Taxes such as GST or VAT are usually extra.

How the web works

A .com costs about $11 to $23 a year depending on the registrar, typically about ₹1,300 in India; a .in about ₹800. First-year deals often renew higher.

Cloudflare charges the registry's price with no markup, about $11 a year for a .com. Namecheap renews a .com at about $18.50 and GoDaddy at about $23. A .in costs about ₹800.

WireGuard and OpenVPN are free to run yourself. Tailscale is free for personal use (up to 6 users) and about $8 per user a month for businesses. Proton VPN has a free plan; Mullvad costs a flat €5 a month.
